New York State Inactive Landfill Initiative – Comprehensive Program to Identify, Prioritize and Address Priority Solid Waste Sites For Potential Impacts on Drinking Water Quality in New York State
Vincent Fay, Bureau of Solid Waste Management, New York Department of Environmental Conservation will present data from the comprehensive effort to evaluate and prioritize over 1,750 inactive solid waste sites statewide to determine any potential impacts from PFAS and/or 1,4-dioxane, including groundwater sampling and analysis at over 100 inactive landfills.
PFAS Into & Out From Landfills
Kaesey Kathan, Solid Waste Management Program, Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation will present the results of two recent efforts: a study on landfill leachate management and treatment options; and the analysis of over 100 samples taken from the various incoming wastes at the state’s largest landfill, including WWTF and industrial sludges, contaminated soils, bulky waste, textiles, carpeting and commercial customer wastes.
