U.S. EPA created the Citizen Science Quality Assurance Handbook to help citizen science groups systematically plan, carry out and document their projects and to provide quality assurance guidance to citizen science groups and federal, state, tribal, and local agencies. To facilitate the use of the Handbook and support collaboration between citizen science groups and government agencies, the Association of Public Health Laboratories (APHL) worked with EPA to create the Citizen Science Quality Assurance Toolkit.
The agencies hope these resources will inform, motivate, and support the production of quality citizen science data that can be used to answer community and environmental and public health questions.
